Hazen’s Lauren Kaufman earned a state title, while Liberty’s swim team finished highest among Renton teams at the 3A state swim meet Saturday.
Kaufman won the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 52.60 seconds. The junior finished second in the 50 freestyle. Kaufman is Hazen’s first state title winner since 2005.
The Highlanders placed 18th at the meet as a team.
Kaela Nurmi placed 12th in the 100 freestyle. Nurmi finished 23rd in the 100 backstroke preliminaries.
Sarah McCormick finished 24th in the one-meter dive preliminaries.
Liberty
Led by junior Nicole Lecoq, the Patriots placed 12th at the state meet.
Liberty’s 200-yard medley relay team (Lecoq, Elise Tinseth, Caitlin Doffner and Hannah Blue) placed ninth.
Lecoq placed fourth in the 200 freestyle finals. She finished fifth in the 100 backstroke.
Tinseth finished ninth in the 200 individual medley.
Katie Tsutakawa placed seventh in the one-meter dive competition.
The Patriots finished 15th in the 400 freestyle relay finals (Lecoq, Sarah Lowes, Duffner and Tinseth).
Renton and Lindbergh
Renton’s Tala Hild finished 23rd in the 100 butterfly preliminaries. Lindbergh’s Savannah Lemke placed 24th in the same race. Lemke finished 22nd in the 200 individual medley preliminaries.
Renton’s Eloisa Bautista placed 23rd in the 100 breaststroke preliminaries.
