Two teenagers injured running across busy Northeast Fourth Street

Two teenage boys were injured, one seriously, late Thursday afternoon when they tried to cross heavily congested Northeast Fourth Street in the Highlands and were hit by a vehicle, according to the Renton Police Department.

Two teenage boys were injured, one seriously, late Thursday afternoon when they tried to cross heavily congested Northeast Fourth Street in the Highlands and were hit by a vehicle, according to the Renton Police Department.

The two teenagers, whose ages weren’t released, were crossing in the 3700 block of Northeast Fourth Street at about 4:50 p.m. from the north when a man eastbound on Fourth Street hit them, according to police. The driver wasn’t injured.

One teen suffered  serious injuries to his head and body and was taken to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle in serious condition, according to police. The second teen was taken to Overlake Hospital in Bellevue for treatment of injuries.

The Renton Police Traffic Unit is investigating. The investigation disrupted the evening commute, including Metro buses.
