Newcastle planning Earth Day events

The City of Newcastle, the Newcastle Chamber of Commerce and the Newcastle Weed Warriors will present Earth Day at Newcastle’s Lake Boren Park on April 23.

Light lunch items will be available for purchase. Musical entertainment: The Boeing Employees Concert Band and the Hazen High School Jazz Band.

The event hours are 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Schedule for Earth Day 2011:

10 a.m. – Event opens with introduction

11 a.m. – Mini-Seminars from the Main Stage continue throughout the day

Noon – Hazen Jazz Band

12:30 a.m. – Recycle relay hosted by Waste Management

1 p.m. – Boeing Employees’ Concert Band

2 p.m. – Mini-seminars continue from the Main Stage

3 p.m. – Youth poster awards and photos with Bert the Salmon

Kids  activities are planned throughout the day.
