The following information was compiled based on City of Renton police reports.
A 1-year-old fell out of a second-story window of his house on June 21.
Renton police assisted the fire department at a residence in the 12200 block of Southeast Petrovitsky Road at noon.
Both parents were in the house, when the mother heard faint crying. She said her son had been playing in his room.
When she went to the bedroom, she saw her 1-year-old son lying on the ground outside below the open window.
The boy shares the bedroom with his 3-year-old brother. There’s a bunk bed next to the open window the boy was apparently climbing on.
At the time of the report the extent of the boy’s injuries wasn’t known.
Man robbed
A Renton man was robbed outside a local convenient store on June 7.
Around 7 p.m. at the AM/PM store, 251 Rainier Ave. N., a 43-year-old Renton man was approached by someone he thought was a teenage girl. She asked him for the time, then lunged at his gold chain, which was hanging around his neck. She pulled on the necklace, broke it and began running south on Rainier Avenue South with the necklace. She was accompanied by two juvenile black males. The girl is described as black and wearing a grey hooded sweatshirt, black spandex pants and white sandals.
Police detained an individual matching the girl’s description at a bus stop on Southwest Sunset Boulevard and Rainier Avenue South. The young woman was taken to the location of the victim but not positively identified as the suspect.
Woman raped
A Renton woman was raped by a friend on June 4.
An ex-boyfriend of the 28-year-old woman called police on June 6 because he was told by the woman that she was raped by a friend. He was concerned because he couldn’t reach the woman or the friend.
The victim explained to police how she was forced to have sex with this friend twice. The 36-year-old suspect came over to her residence the morning of June 4 and she let him in because he is a friend and she likes his wife.
Although she told the man “no” multiple times, he forced himself on her several times.
Police believed there was cause to arrest the man for investigation of third-degree rape. They contacted him and he denied the accusations. Police contacted the victim again and she said she did not want to press charges; she just wanted the man not to contact her any more.
The case was closed because the victim did not want to pursue charges.
IRS wise crack
A wise crack from a desperate man prompted police attention on May 31.
Police were called to the house of a Renton man at about 1:30 p.m. because an IRS agent reported the man was suicidal.
The IRS agent told police they were on the phone with the man who threatened to kill himself and told the agent he had a loaded gun next to him. Police found him in his vehicle in his carport. They handcuffed him temporarily and determined he wasn’t suicidal or a danger to the public.
The man said he was upset with the IRS because they withdrew all the money from his bank account and made a wise crack comment to the effect that he might as well shoot himself because he had nothing left.
The man was released.
Threats at Starbucks
A disgruntled Starbucks customer made harassing threats to employees on June 3.
The store manager of the coffee shop located on 108th Avenue Southeast reported to police that a regular customer made threats to “burn down” the store. The man was upset about the store’s latest renovation. The store manager contacted police just before noon.
The customer later sent an e-mail to the corporate office stating he should gather support to “storm and set fire to the corporate office and hang the idiot fools who authorized the renovation.”
While in the store, the man made other comments about shooting and hanging the designers of the store, which others overheard.
The man is described as white, about 6-feet-tall, 240 to 250 pounds and in his 50s.
Police emailed him, but he did not respond to their request for a meeting.
