Maple Valley Youth Symphony Orchestra plans season-ending concert May 7

The Maple Valley Youth Symphony Orchestra, which includes players from Renton, is finishing up its fourth regular season.

The concert, titled The big BANG! Concert, will feature Mendelssohn’s Violin Concerto in E-minor, Stravinsky’s Firebird Suite, Rimsky-Korsakov’s Fandango and Alaborada.

The concert will be at 7 p.m. Saturday, May 7, at Shepherd of The Valley Lutheran Church, 23855 S.E. 216th St., in Maple Valley.  A $5 donation is suggested. For more information about the concert or Maple Valley Youth Symphony Orchestra, visit www.mvyso.org or call 425-358-1640.

All of orchestra’s performing groups will be playing in this concert.  Also to be featured in this concert will be Sarah Burwell, violin soloist.  Burwell was one of the orchestra’s original eight members and has graduated on to violin coach for the youth symphony.

Following the concert, the youth symphony will be moving into its summer stock season.

The orchestra will also be hosting a summer music camp Aug. 8-12.
