The Renton Chamber of Commerce partnered with Vasudha Sharma from Voice of Planet in the city’s first annual Festival of Lights on Oct. 15. Diwali is the celebration of light over darkness, good over evil.

“Vasudha Sharma is many things — a doctor, best-selling author, nonprofit CEO, and state beauty pageant winner — but the throughline of her work is building a network of community support that empowers people to thrive,” according to the Chamber.

The event included an art exhibit, music and entertainment, food and celebration.

Core messages of Voice of Planet, a nonprofit dedicated to connecting volunteers in the community to help everyone live a more fulfilling life, include a focus on health, humanity, honor, heritage and harmony.
