The city’s soccer teams received silver and bronze medals, the track and field team took home 36 medals and ribbons and the cycling team won 75 medals and ribbons in numerous categories.

Members of Renton’s special Olympics team had a great day May 31 at the 2013 Special Olympics Summer Games State Tournament at Joint Base Lewis/McChord, bringing home more than 100 medals and ribbons from the competition.

The city’s soccer teams received silver and bronze medals, the track and field team took home 36 medals and ribbons and the cycling team won 75 medals and ribbons in numerous categories.

All of the city’s athletes also displayed great sportsmanship throughout the tournament.

City Director of Recreation Sean Clagett heads up a team of 15 volunteer coaches who gave more than 1,000 hours of their time to make the event a special experience for the 60 local athletes that participated.
