Favorable spot helps Seattle put Rams away | Seahawks

Any Seahawk fan that remembers the 2006 Super Bowl will tell you it seems like officials hate the Seattle Seahawks.

As Yahoo! Sports blogger Chris Chase points out, a crucial missed call actually helped Seattle put away the St. Louis Rams Sunday night.

Seattle’s Michael Robinson came up short on a third-down run, but slid forward as the play was ending. The referee came forward and signaled a first down when the Seahawks should have been short of the mark.

The Rams hadn’t scored a touchdown all game and it’s hard to project what they would have done on offense, but it was clearly a poor call that went in Seattle’s favor.

Seattle went on to win 16-6 and earn a trip to the playoffs.
