Here’s where to get good background on Cedar River library refurbishing

Check out this Renton City Council meeting video for some good background on refurbishing the Cedar River library.

The ballots and voters’ pamphlet for the Aug. 7 election are or will be soon in the hands of voters. For Renton voters the key issue is where to locate the downtown library.

Here’s a link to the spot on the City of Renton website where you can find videos of all City Council meetings. The April 16 meeting is particularly helpful in getting information about refurbishing the Cedar River Library.

At that meeting Peter Renner, the city’s facilities director, Kirk Robinson, whose Robinson Co. did the $10.1 million estimate for refurbishing the library, and Bill Ptacek, director of the King County Library System, spoke to a well-attended public meeting. They offer some valuable information about the costs and challenges of refurbishing the Cedar library and why many questions or uncertainties exist.

They start talking at about minute 48 into the video of the long meeting, although there’s library discussion and testimony before and after that from council members and the public.
