Renton School District recognizes outstanding employees

Some of the Renton School District’s top staff were recognized this week by the school board, as part of their annual Outstanding Employee Awards.

Nearly 30 district staff members were nominated for demonstrating an extraordinary level of job performance, support for students, professionalism and dedication. Four were selected as winners: Jane Lambert, Kerri Dowd, Gary Sampson, and Sandra Case.

Renton School Board members, family, coworkers and others helped celebrate the staff at this week’s board meeting. Guests delivered personal anecdotes and professional praise for the recipients.The winners were nominated for this year’s awards in four categories: Outstanding Elementary Teacher, Outstanding Secondary Teacher, Outstanding School Support Person and Outstanding District Support Person.

School Board members, last year’s winners and others formed a selection committee to evaluate the nominees based on information presented in applications and accompanying letters of support. A district press release called all of the nominees “impressive, exceptional members of the district family” and called the winners, “consummate professionals, with a high level of skill, competence and character.”

Outstanding Elementary Teacher: Jane Lambert, Fourth-Grade Teacher, Tiffany Park Elementary School

Outstanding Secondary Teacher: Kerri Dowd, Family and Consumer Sciences Teacher, Hazen High School

Outstanding Building Support Person: Gary Sampson, Counselor, Honey Dew Elementary School

Outstanding District Support Person: Sandra Case, Confidential Assistant, Elementary Education Department
