The deadline is fast approaching to make reservations for a breakfast designed to raise money to keep some key Renton School District programs operating.

The Friends of Renton Schools Fund is putting on the “Launching Lifetime Learning” benefit breakfast April 26 at the Spirit of Washington Event Center.

The deadline to reserve a seat at the breakfast is 5 p.m. April 16. To reserve a seat contact Sherre Piantanida at sherre15@comcast.net or 425-736-4827.

The keynote speaker is Bill Gates Sr.

The breakfast is the first of three fundraisers the Friends of Renton Schools is planning. The other two are a phoneathon to reach parents and a “day in the life” of a Seahawk. The goal is to raise about $1.5 million to go toward programs, especially in reading and math, that are at risk of being cut from the school budget.
