Squirrel-hunting man on roof gets a visit | Police Blotter

The following information was compiled from City of Renton police reports. Police investigated a man hunting squirrels from his roof on Jan. 18. Police were called to a residence in the 800 block of Edmonds Avenue Northeast at about 5 p.m.

Police investigated a man hunting squirrels from his roof on Jan. 18.

Police were called to a residence in the 800 block of Edmonds Avenue Northeast at about 5 p.m.

A suspicious man was reported on the roof of the house with a scoped rifle throwing snowballs.

When confronted, the 26-year-old man told police he was hunting squirrels to become a survivalist like he saw on TV.

Then the man began to cry, prompting police to speak with his mother. She had no explanation for her son’s actions.

Because his behavior was merely “odd” and he didn’t menace or threaten anyone, police did not believe a crime occurred.

 

Girl, 16, arrested for choking her mother

A 16-year-old girl was arrested for choking her mother on Jan. 18.

Police responded to the incident in the 1500 block of Anacortes Avenue Northeast at 6:25 p.m.

The 52-year-old mother got into a verbal argument with her daughter about cell-phone privileges.

The daughter attacked her mother, leaving marks on her neck and throat.

Apparently, the daughter was trying to leave the house in the dark and snow and her mother stood in her way.

Police arrested and transported the girl to the King County Juvenile Detention Center for investigation of fourth degree assault.

 

Siblings come to blows; one lands in jail

Siblings came to physical blows on Jan. 19, landing one in jail.

Police went to a residence in the 200 block of Dayton Avenue Southeast at about 4 p.m.

A 13-year-old girl had called to report her 18-year-old brother had assaulted her older sister.

Police arrived and observed a clump of black hair on the kitchen floor. Apparently, the brother and the 15-year-old sister got into a physical fight about a video game.

The two came to blows with the brother being the primary aggressor, police determined.

The 13-year-old sister tried to intervene, but was punched by her brother.

He was arrested for investigation of two counts of domestic violence fourth degree assault.

 

Tukwila man arrested after punching girlfriend

A Tukwila man with multiple warrants was arrested for assault in Renton on Jan. 19.

The 31-year-old man was suspected of punching his girlfriend three times in the head, causing her injury.

The two, who had been dating for two months, were driving in Renton when the 35-year-old woman made a wrong turn down a street.

The man became upset and struck her in the face. He punched her again as she tried to leave the car.

The woman sought help from pedestrians and the man fled on foot.

When police caught up with him in a local bar, they discovered the man had three warrants for his arrest.

The warrants were for a felony and two misdemeanors.

The man was arrested for investigation of domestic violence fourth-degree assault.

 

‘Rapist’ written on side of Renton man’s car

A Renton man’s car was vandalized on Jan. 7.

The 49-year-old man called police to report that sometime over night his vehicle had been vandalized.

Someone scratched the word “RAPIST” into his driver’s side door.

The man believed it was his ex-girlfriend, who had previously claimed in a Seattle case that he caused her to blackout and raped her.

The 38-year-old woman was at the man’s house during the night knocking at his door. He called police once and she disappeared before they got there.

She returned again, knocked and left him several voice messages when he didn’t answer the door.

Police listened to the messages and the woman seemed to be under the influence of intoxicants because of her slurred speech.

Police forwarded the report to detectives for further review.

 

K9 unit takes control of car vandal

Police took down a car vandal using a K9 unit on Jan. 8.

Multiple witnesses reported hearing and seeing a man jumping on top of a car and damaging it in the 2500 block of Northeast Fourth Street after midnight.

A female maintenance worker observed the incident and tried to stop the 31-year-old man and he appeared to try and assault her.

A police officer jumped out of her patrol car and ordered him to stop.

The man told the officer, “I hope you are alone, (expletive) cause I’ll kick your (expletive).

She then ordered her K9 out of the car and it attacked the man’s left buttocks.

She then put the man in handcuffs and he was eventually arrested for investigation of malicious mischief for intentionally damaging a vehicle.
