Renton police catch house burglars in the act

Renton police caught a pair of burglars red-handed, preventing about $12,500 worth of tools from theft.
According to the Renton Police Department (RPD),at 1:16 p.m. Jan. 15 in the 1000 block of Grant Avenue South, officers responded to a burglary in progress after homeowners witnessed burglars entering their home in real time on surveillance video. The homeowner stated that the home was under construction, but no one had permission to be there.
RPD stated that as officers arrived at the location, they found a man leaving the residence who matched one of the burglar’s descriptions, and quickly detained him. Officers then found the second suspect leaving the home and detained him, too.
“Officers found several tools consistent with burglary tools in the suspects’ possession in addition to drug paraphernalia,” RPD stated. “Officers cleared the home and recovered tools stolen from the residence, with an estimated value of $12,500.”
Both suspects were booked into jail for residential burglary, RPD said.
