Renton officers arrested a man who, after attempting to flee from police, began to ram their vehicles.

According to the Renton Police Department (RPD), at about 8:15 a.m. Dec. 5, officers received a call about a suspicious vehicle in the 2600 block of NE Fourth Street. RPD stated that when officers arrived, the suspect immediately tried to drive away, but another patrol car boxed him.

“Officers say the driver tried to escape by crashing into the patrol car, but couldn’t get around it,” RPD stated. “The suspect refused to get out of the car, so officers were forced to break a window and remove him.”

According to RPD, the suspect told officers that he ingested fentanyl, so he was taken to the hospital. According to RPD, the suspect was a 36-year-old male who, after being taken to the hospital, was booked into jail on suspicion of several crimes, including car theft and driving under the influence.
