Nelsen Middle School students had chance last week to see if they had what it takes to be a firefighter.

Renton firefighters from Station 17 are teaming up with middle school physical education classes to give students a chance to compete in the “Junior FF Combat Challenge,” a modified version of the Firefighter Combat Challenge.

The course is designed to not only promote physical fitness, but also give students a taste of what it’s like to be a firefighter.

Last week, students at Nelsen Middle School was able to give the course a try.
