The annual Polar Bear Plunge to kick off the new year is scheduled for 11 a.m. Friday at the swimming area at Gene Coulon Park.

The event draws hundreds of residents to Lake Washington each New Year’s Day to begin the year with a brisk dip into the icy waters of of the lake. The temperature is expected to be in the mid-30s Friday morning.
