A call to action for Renton Fire and Emergency services | LETTER TO THE EDITOR

The system is broken; Renton Fire and Emergency Service (RF&ES) and King County Fire District 25 (KCFD 25) need our help so they can continue with their excellent service that they have given in the past and still deliver to us.
There has been talk about combining RF&ES and KCFD 25 to make a Regional Fire Authority (RFA). This will take a gathering of a committee of Renton citizens for discussion and questions (completed) than go to the Renton Planning Committee followed by the Renton City Council for the city of Renton.
I believe the discussions and decisions will go before the KCFD 25 commissioners. If the decision is made to move forward with the RFA, than it will go to the voters of the affected areas for their final decision. That brings me to my question: Is a RFA the only way path to follow for needed improvements for fire and emergency services or is there another way that would be as good or better for both fire and emergency service(s) and the residents of the served areas?
NOW is the time to ask your City Council members or Fire Commissioners for answers: Is a RFA the best or only route to take to improve our safety?
It very well maybe the best but we won’t know till the questions are asked and answered.

Renton
