Switch to LED lights saves estimated $589,409

Puget Sound Energy and City of Renton public works officials this week estimated the savings to the city from the switch from high pressure sodium street lights to light emitting diodes (LEDs) at $589,409.

Officials from PSE also cited the benefits of brighter lights that are on more often as a safety enhancement over the previous, yellow-tinted lights.
