Hospital district commissioners to consider executive financial disclosure

Public Hospital District No. 1 commissioners will consider three resolutions today (Monday), including one requiring financial disclosure by top hospital administrators.
The five commissioners will meet at 5:30 p.m. in the board room at the hospital, 400 S. 43rd St. This is the board’s first meeting since May. The public can comment at 5:30 p.m.
The hospital owns Valley Medical Center, which is overseen by a 13-member Board of Trustees.
The resolution regarding financial disclosure points out that the state, Seattle, King County and other jurisdictions require senior and mid-level employees who make decisions to fill out disclosure forms to identify possible conflicts of interest.
The resolution requires that the hospital’s chief executive officer, chief financial officer, general counsel and all vice presidents fill out disclosure forms each year on Aug. 1.
The board also will consider a resolution that requests a performance audit by the Washington State Auditor to determine whether the district has addressed issues found in a 2009 performance audit.
The resolution refers to hospital CEO Rich Roodman’s pay, including salary, retirement and retention.
A third resolution the board is considering would extend the contract for the district’s lobbyist, Martin Durkan. The contract calls for half-time services through December and then full-time services during the 2014 legislative session.
And the board may review a proposal to reorganize the hospital into five sub-districts, with commissioners elected by sub-district.
