Man shot dead, woman wounded by property owner near Maple Valley

A 66-year-old King County man shot and killed a man and wounded a woman who were on his property outside of Maple Valley early this morning, according to the King County Sheriff’s Office.

The shooting occurred in the 23200 block of 212th Avenue Southeast.

Just before 4 a.m. the man called 911 to report that he heard people and banging noises on his property.   While he was speaking with 911 operators, the line disconnected.  When the 911 operator was able to reconnect with the man, he said that he had shot two people, according to Sgt. Cindi West, a spokeswoman for the Sheriff’s Office. 

Deputies responded to the property and found one man dead and a woman seriously injured by at least one gunshot.  The woman was airlifted to Harborview Hospital for treatment. 

King County Sheriff’s Office Major Crimes detectives are investigating.
