Sheriff asks help finding man who tried to rob woman at Renton-area ATM

The King County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s help in identifying a man who attempted to rob a woman while she was making a deposit at an ATM the morning of Sunday, Nov. 11.
The incident occurred at 7:42 a.m. at the BECU ATM in the 14400 block of Southeast Petrovitsky Road just east of Renton as the 42-year-old victim who lives in the Renton area was making a deposit.
She was treated at Valley Medical Center for extensive head trauma, according to Sgt. Cindi West, a spokeswoman for the King County Sheriff’s Office.
The suspect approached her from behind and asked her for her PIN. When she turned around, the suspect struck her in the head with a collapsible baton, according to Sgt. Cindi West, a spokeswoman for the King County Sheriff’s Office.
The suspect demanded the PIN again and hit her again with the baton. The victim ran to her vehicle to escape, but the suspect ran after her and broke her driver’s side window with the baton as she was trying to get away in her car, according to West.
The suspect fled in a vehicle described as a flat black (no shine) BMW, possibly vintage 1990s, with matching molding and dark tinting on all the windows. At the time of the robbery, the vehicle did not have a front plate attached. The vehicle was described as well-maintained.
The suspect is described as a white male, in his 20s, 5-foot-8, with light colored hair and a thin nose. He was wearing a black ski mask, black jacket and black gloves. He had some type of holster on his right hip.
