Seahawks tight end John Carlson will miss the 2011 season after surgery to repair a torn labrum.

Carlson injured the shoulder diving for a pass during an Aug. 13 practice. He caught 31 passes for 318 yards and one touchdown last season.

Seattle signed Pro Bowl tight end Zach Miller on the offseason, and had planned to use the two together often.
