Renton schools honor four outstanding employees

The Renton School Board honored four winners of  this year’s Outstanding Employee Awards.

The awards recognize staff who demonstrate an extraordinary level of job performance, vibrant support for students, professionalism and dedication.

The award recipients were joined by family, co-workers, current and past students and others in honoring this year’s winners a press release stated. Some offered their personal anecdotes and praise for the outstanding staff members.

Nearly 30 district staff members were nominated for this year’s awards in the four categories.

The winners are:

Elementary teacher

Julianna Dauble, 5th-grade teacher at Sierra Heights Elementary School, has worked in the Renton School District for 10 years.

Julianna is known as a generous educator who shares ideas, time and resources with everyone; and as a constant advocate for what is best for kids.

She spends time at school well beyond the school day: she volunteers on several school and district committees and works with parents through the PTSA, and during evening math and reading events. She is also a consultant for the Center for Teaching Quality (an independent education policy think tank), and serves on the Board of Directors for WEA PAC.

Secondary teacher

Ray McCabe is the  Business Education teacher at Hazen High School. He has been an educator for more than 35 years, teaching in the Renton School District since 1980. McCabe is a highly-motivated, passionate teacher who works hard to ensure the success of students in his classroom. He connects with his students through wit and charisma, engaging them in lessons, and creating an atmosphere in which students are eager to attend class.

He serves on the several school, district, state and community committees and boards.

Building support

Teresa Lind is an instructional coach at Benson Hill Elementary School. She has worked as a teacher and instructional coach in the Renton School District for 25 years.

Teresa has a bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of Washington and a master’s degree in counseling from Western Seminary. Teresa also has completed additional coursework in math, writing, reading, and other areas of study.

District support

Justin Isbell is a  technology facilitator in the district office. After teaching for nearly seven years, he returned to school to get a degree in technology to combine passions for both teaching and technology.
