Sixth annual ‘I Love the Cedar River’ meeting set for Nov. 16

This annual meeting provides a state-of-the-river update for the community.

The sixth-annual, “I Love the Cedar River” community meeting and open house is planned for Nov. 16 in Maple Valley, when residents can learn more about flood-risk reduction and restoration projects and related activities on the Cedar River.

Set for 6-8:30 p.m. at the Lake Wilderness Lodge, 22500 S.E. 248th St., Maple Valley, this annual meeting provides a state-of-the-river update for the community that covers the latest projects, a question-and-answer session, and opportunities for residents to talk to a variety of people who are involved in managing the Cedar River.

King County, City of Renton, and Seattle Public Utilities employees will provide updates on several items, including:

• The Cedar River Corridor Plan;

• The Riverbend and Elliot Bridge Reach projects;

• Large wood and river closures;

• The Cedar River Maintenance Dredge and Elliott Spawning Channel Inlet Improvement Project; and

• The Cedar River Water Resources Operations.

During the open house portion of the evening, residents can discuss projects with representatives from: the King County Flood Control District, King County Department of Natural Resources and Parks, Cedar River Council, City of Renton, Forterra, S.H.A.D.O.W., and the Lake Washington/Cedar/Sammamish Watershed (WRIA8) coordinators.
