Washington clashes with Oregon at the BorderDuel Track Classic

Hazen and Renton showed up strong to the BorderDuel Track Classic in Portland June 6.

The meet featured over 100 schools from Washington and Oregon in all classifications.

Hazen’s Andrey Levkiv won the shot put with a throw of 57 feet, 2.5 inches. Levkiv beat out South Albany’s Michael VanDoren by nearly three feat. He also finished sixth in the discus.

Renton’s Armin Basic won the discus competition, with a throw of 172 feet even. Basic led VanDoren in second place by almost 13 feet. Basic also finished fourth in the shot put.

Courtney Sanders, also from Hazen, placed sixth in the event. Sanders threw a distance of 50 feet, 5.25 inches.

Hazen’s Jeff Hinckley placed fourth in the pole vault, clearing a height of 13 feet, six inches.

Renton’s Boyana Atanasova placed third in the discus, with a throw of 127 feet, 10 inches. She also placed sixth in the javelin.
