Track and field: Renton boys win Arnie Young Invitational

The Renton boys track team edged Lindbergh to win the Arnie Young Invitational April 4.

The Indians scored 89 points, Lindbergh was second with 88 points. Hazen was close behind, in third, with 85.5 points.

Marcus Clinton, a sophomore, led the Indians’ sprinter group. He took fourth place in the 200, along with 10th in the 100.

Senior Tevin Ponders won the 300 hurdles and finished second in the 110 hurdles.

Armin Basic, a senior, placed second in shot put and discus. Senior Alex Nguyen plaed third in javelin.

Ronnielle Kelly-Battles finished second in triple jump and fourth in long jump.

The Lindbergh boys piled up second-place finishes at the invitational. Frank Cange earned second in the 100. Trevor Thompson took second in the 1600 and 3200. Thompson and Cange are both juniors.

Senior Zack Nielsen took fifth in the shot put and third in the discus.

Junior Derek Roseboro (high jump), Willie Creear (long jump) and David Bowman (triple jump) all earned third-place in jump events for the Eagles.

For Hazen, Duncan Mackay took second in the 200 and third in the 100.

Michael McGillivrary took fourth in the 400.

Junior James Holland earned fourth in the 110 hurdles. Senior Adriel Johnson took fifth in the 300 hurdles.

Senior Andrey Levkiv won both the shot put and discus. Cody Cottrill, a junior, took second in the javelin.
