Track and field: Renton boys and girls both finish regular season undefeated

The Renton boys and girls teams each finished the season undefeated, at 8-0. The Hazen boys finished second at 7-1, while Lindbergh finished third at 6-2.

The Lindbergh and Hazen girls tied with Mt. Rainier for second place, at 6-2.

The Renton All-City Meet was May 8. For boys, Hazen beat Lindbergh 74-68. Renton beat Lindbergh 79-65 and Hazen 77-67.

For girls, Hazen beat Lindbergh 77-73. Renton beat Lindbergh 88-61 and Hazen 89-61.

Boys event rundown

100 meter: Lindbergh’s Adam Freed won with a time of 11.19 seconds. Renton’s Tevin Ponders ran 11.20, while Hazen’s Duncan Mackay ran 11.21.

200 meter: Renton’s Ronnielle Kelly-Battles won with a time of 22.64 seconds. Mackay placed second, Freed third.

400 meter: Hazen’s Michael McGillivrary won the event with a time of 51.46 seconds. He finished nearly a full second ahead of Freed in second place.

800 meter: Lindbergh’s Matt Miland won, at 2:01.44. Teammate Joseph Patti came in second.

1600 meter: Miland also won the 1600 with a time of 4:30.33. Patti placed second.

3200 meter: Lindbergh’s James Cornell won with a time of 10:22.45. Patti placed second.

110-meter hurdles: Renton’s Ponders won with a time of 14.80. Hazen’s James Holland was second at 14.85.

300-meter hurdles: Ponders and Holland again finished first and second.

4X100 relay: Renton’s team of Ponders, Robert Reeves III, Kelly-Battles and Marcus Clinton won, with a time of 44.02.

4X400 relay: Hazen’s team of Holland, Adriel Johnson, Lunsford and McGillivrary won with a time of 3:32.36.

Shot put: Hazen’s Andrey Levkiv won with a distance of 58-1.5. Renton’s Armin Basic was second at 55-7.5.

Discus: Levkiv won with a toss os 168 feet. Basic was second at 160–8.

Javelin: Renton’s Alex Nguyen won with a distance of 168 feet. Basic was second, at 167-10.

High jump: Renton’s Michael Moore won with a height of 5-8.

Pole vault: Hazen’s Jeff Hinckley won with a height of 14 feet.

Long jump: Kelly-Battles won with a distance of 22-4.

Triple jump: Kelly-Battles won with a distance of 43-8.

Girls event rundown

100 meter: Renton’s Taylor Williams won with a time of 12.94 seconds. Hazen’s Airashay Rogers came in second at 13.19.

200 meter: Williams also won this race, at 26.02.

400 meter: Lindbergh’s Ericka Galindo won with a time of 1:04. Hazen’s Erin Anderson came in second by just .71 seconds.

800 meter: Lindbergh’s Shelby Reiter won, at 2:40.78.

1600 meter: Lindbergh’s Sarah Reiter won with a time of 6:04.35. Shelby Reiter placed second.

3200 meter: Sarah Reiter won, at 12:33.54, over 20 seconds ahead of second place.

100-meter hurdles: Lindbergh’s Jazzmine Knox won with a time of 16.81. Renton’s Amadi Bentley was second.

300-meter hurdles: Bentley won, while Renton teammate Victoria Fernandez placed second.

4X100 relay: Renton’s team of Aleigha Vasser, Williams, Fernandez and Gibson won, at 50.58.

4X100 relay: Renton’s team of Williams, Adriana Calcote, Vasser and Gibson won with a time of 1:48.47.

4X400 relay: Renton’s team of Bentley, Kristin Haag, Fernandez and Vasser won, at 4:19.36.

Shot put: Renton’s Roylanda Jackson tossed the farthest, at 39-1.5. Teammate Boryana Atanasova placed second.

Discus: Atanasova won the discus, at 117-7. Jackson was second.

Javelin: Atanasova also won this event, at 125-3, almost 15 feet ahead of second place.

High jump: Hazen’s Brittany Phillio and Kaysie Rozsonits tied with a height of five feet.

Pole vault: Hazen’s Robin Lee won with a height of 7-6.

Long jump: Gibson won with a distance of 16-5. Rozsonits finished second, just an inch back.

Triple jump: Lindbergh’s Makala Williams won with a distance of 34-7.

The Seamount League Meet will be held at Renton Memorial Stadium May 15 and 17. The top four placers in each even qualifies for districts.
