Sub-district games set for Seamount teams; Liberty’s season ends in KingCo tournament | Boys basketball

The Lindbergh boys basketball team fell victim to a big, third-quarter run and lost to Foster 65-43 Friday.

The Eagles (6-10 overall, 6-8 Seamount) finish with the league’s third 2A seed heading into sub-districts. Lindbergh will play Peninsula (3-17) in a winner-to-district, loser-out game Thursday at 7:30 p.m. at Foster High School.

Against Foster, the Eagles trailed by six points at the half. The Bulldogs then pulled away with an 18-5 advantage in the third.

Dewayne Browne led Lindbergh with 17 points and five steals.

Hazen 65, Renton 53

Hazen came out on top of rival Renton 65-53 Thursday night in the regular-season finale for both teams.

Hazen (16-3, 13-1) finishes with the school’s first Seamount title since 1998. The Highlanders will play Lakes (16-2) Friday at 8 p.m. at Lakes High School.

Renton (10-10, 8-6) takes the league’s second 2A seed. The Indians will play Auburn Mountainview (9-11) in the first round of sub-districts.

De’Corrius Sampson led Hazen with 17 points. Brandt Graybeal and R.J. Magar each scored 11. Graybeal added eight rebounds.

Renton’s Justin Bennett led all scorers with 21 points. Dolton Hafey added nine for the Indians.

Mount Si 53, Liberty 47

The Liberty basketball team fell to Mount Si 53-47 in the first round of the KingCo 3A tournament Saturday.

The Patriots (6-14) finished the regular season sixth in the KingCo and their season is done after the loss to Mount Si.

Chandler Jenkins led the team in scoring on the season at 15.9 points per game. Tynan Gilmore averaged 10.5, Jake Bainton 7.7 and Kylan Marlow 7.5.
