Seamount state wrap: Kennedy girls take state title, Foster boys take eighth

Kennedy girls

Fellow Seamount teams knew the Kennedy girls had something special this season. And over the course of four days at the Tacoma Dome, the Lancers showed just how special they were.

The team finished an undefeated season and took 3A state title with a 50-43 win against Shadle Park.

Kennedy breezed through a first round game against Hanford, won by 11 against Lakeside in the second round and blew out Meadowdale in the quarterfinals to reach the title game. In that contest, the Lancers led by eight at the half and never looked back.

Foster boys

Foster fell to Bellevue in the first round, but rebounded to win two more and take eighth place at the 3A state tournament.

After losing 69-49 to Bellevue (the Wolverines finished third at the tournament), the Bulldogs beat Lynwood and Rogers (Spokane) before losing again to O’Dea in the fifth/eighth place game.
