Renton’s Steve Sholdra dominates field, wins state title in 500 free | 2A state swim & dive

Renton’s Steve Sholdra dominated the field and won the 2A 500-yard freestyle state title Saturday.

Sholdra’s finals time of four minutes, 35.66 seconds shattered the old 2A state record by over 20 seconds and earned him All-American consideration.

Sholdra also took fifth in the 100 breast finals, finishing just over a second behind the winner in a crowded top of the race.

Sholdra was the only Renton swimmer to make the finals at the 2A state swim and dive meet.
