The 2A Track and Field District Meet was this past weekend in Bremerton and several local athletes placed well enough to move on to the state meet this weekend.



The 2A Track and Field District Meet was this past weekend in Bremerton and several local athletes placed well enough to move on to the state meet this weekend.

In the boys team competition, Liberty finished fifth, Lindbergh sixth and Renton in 17th place.

On the girls side, Liberty finished second, Lindbergh sixth and Renton 14th.

Individually, the top six finishers in each race will advance. They include:

MEN

800m – Renton’s Tai McMillan finished second and Lindbergh;s Deven Maddy finished sixth;

1600m – Renton’s Kameron Jones finished third;

300m hurdles – Lindbergh’s Andrew tarango finished fifth;

4 x 400m relay – The Lindbergh team of tarango, Maddy, Marshall Clairmont and Jacob Villanueva finished sixth;

Discus -Lindbergh’s Jojo Serguina finished fourth;

Long jump – Lindbergh’s Peyton Campbell finished sixth;

Pole vault – Lindbergh’s Derek Anderson finished first and Antonio Lim finished second.

WOMEN

800m – Lindbergh’s Christine Villanueva finished fourth;

1600m – Lindbergh’s Feven Fessehatzion finished third;

3200m – Liberty’s Brigette Takeuchi finished first, Lindbergh’s Fessehatzion third, Liberty’s Sophia Lindstrom fourth and Liberty’s Carolyn Schmidgall finished sixth;

100m hurdles – Lindbergh’s Camille Manson finished fourth and Renton’s Sandy Nguyen finished sixth;

4 x 100m relay – Renton finished sixth

4 x 200m relay – Renton finished sixth;

Discus – Renton’s Samira Osman finished fourth;

High jump -Lindbergh’s Aajua Brooks finished third.

The state track meet begins Thursday and goes through Saturday at Mount Tahoma High School in Tacoma.
