Renton boys steamroll district meet behind multiple titles from P.J. Benedictus, Justin Bennett | Track & field

The Renton boys dominated the West Central District 2A track and field meet with Justin Bennett and P.J. Benedictus each winning multiple district titles.

The Indians won a team district title, scoring 92 points. The second place team scored 61 points.

Benedictus won the high jump, long jump and triple jump. Bennett won the 100-meter dash and 200. Both were part of Renton’s winning 4 X 100 relay, along with Robert Reeves III and Immanuel Carter. Carter won the 400 and finished fourth in the long jump.

Adriel Paine IV placed second in the 800. Saugat Chhetri finished sixth in the 3,200. Renton’s 4 X 400 team took third (Paine, Carter, Delroy Mukungatu and Hamilton Carter).

All of the listed boys athletes will compete at state.

For the girls team, Amadi Bentley continued her strong season and won a district title in the 100 hurdles. She also took third in the 100, fifth in the 200 and third in the 300 hurdles.

Freshman Joy Barnes placed fourth in the 3,200. Tala Hild took third in the high jump.

Bentley, Barnes and Hild will compete at state.

 

Lindbergh

Lisa Peterson took sixth in the 100, fourth in the 100 hurdles and was part of Lindbergh’s second-place 4 X 100 relay team (along with Janayla Scott, Jazzmine Knox and Kaitlin Zinsli).

Sarah Reiter took third in the 800 and fourth in the 1,600. Anna Patti finished third in the 3,200 and teammate Jasmine Fallgreen placed sixth.

Knox took third in the 100 hurdles, third in the long jump and second in the triple jump.

Lindbergh’s 4 X 200 relay team of Tianna Banfro, Monique Smith, Scott and Zinsli placed second.

Scott took third in the triple jump.

Peterson, Scott, Knox, Zinsli, Reiter, Fallgreen, Patti, Banfro and Smith will all advance to state.

Mitchell Hughey finished in fifth place in the 800. Mohamud Abdi placed sixth in the 1,600. Nathan Haley took fourth in the 3,200.

Joe Simpson finished sixth in the 110-meter hurdles.

In field events, freshman Omelyan Strembitskyy will placed sixth in the pole vault. Bruce Jones took sixth in the triple jump.

Hughey, Abdi, Haley, Simpson, Strembitskyy and Jones will all compete at state.

 

Hazen

Hazen’s Kyle Martin and Starr Williams each qualified for the 3A state tournament at the West Central District meet Saturday.

Martin will compete in the pole vault, while Williams will run in the 100.

Individual district results for Hazen were not available.
