Renton boys keep season alive with win over Port Angeles

Renton will now play Washington at 6 p.m. Wednesday at Bellamine Prep in Tacoma in a loser-out game.

The Renton Indians boys basketball team fell to River Ridge on Friday, but topped Port Angles on Monday to move to the next round of the district tournament.

Despite 13 points from Renton’s Dabreon Waters-Mitchell, River Ridge rode a big third period to victory on Friday at Curtis High School in Puyallup to notch the win.

Renton went out fast, winning the first and second periods to take a 32-25 lead into halftime. But River Ridge responded with a 27-10 third period and then held on as Renton rallied in the fourth, winning the game 71-62.

The loss moved the Indians into a Monday matchup with Port Angeles and the Indians were able to rack up a 61-51 win to keep their season alive.

Renton will now play Washington at 6 p.m. Wednesday at Bellamine Prep in Tacoma in a loser-out game. The winner will secure a spot at the regional tournament.
