A late run by Port Angeles pushed the Roughriders ahead of the Renton girls basketball team 44-42 Wednesday night.

The Indians (6-4 overall, 5-0 Seamount) remain in first place in the Seamount, with a two-game lead over Hazen, Lindbergh, Kennedy Catholic and Tyee, who all have a 3-2 league record.

On Wednesday, the teams played a tight, defensive game until Renton stretched out a six-point lead heading into the final quarter. Port Angeles then went on a late run, outscoring Renton 18-10 in the fourth for the win.

Shanease Kenner led Renton with 13 points. P.J. Tuiasosopo scored 12 and Taylor Farris added 11.

 

Hazen 52, Foster 31

Hazen got out to a quick start and beat Foster 52-31 Wednesday night.

The Highlanders (4-5, 3-2) are in a four-way tie with Lindbergh, Kennedy and Tyee for second place in the Seamount. The team outscored Foster 19-8 in the first quarter, then held on for the win.

Airashay Rogers led all scorers with 27 points. Tyra Markey added 10.

 

Lake Washington 42, Liberty 41 (OT)

Lake Washington handed Liberty its first league loss of the season, 42-41 in overtime Wednesday.

The Patriots (8-3, 4-1 KingCo 3A/2A) are now tied with Juanita and Lake Washington for first place.

Liberty led by seven points at the half, but a Kangaroos 18-9 run in the third gave Lake Washington the lead. The teams played lockdown defense in the final periods, and combined for just 14 in the fourth, then five in overtime.

Aspen Winegar led Liberty with 10 points. Ashlan Applegate added seven.
