Playoff rundown: Hazen, Lindbergh, Kennedy Catholic to districts; Liberty in KingCo tourney | Baseball

The Hazen baseball team fell twice in the sub-district tournament over the weekend and now advances to the district tournament as the No. 3 seed.

The Highlanders (13-5) met Enumclaw (17-2) Saturday and took a brief lead with a run in the top of the second. Zac Kolterman and advanced to third after an Enumclaw overthrown. He scored on a sacrifice fly by Jimmy Schmidt.

The Hornets answered back with six runs in the bottom of the second. Kolterman struggled with his command as rain poured through the entire inning.

Enumclaw added two more runs in the third and ended the game with a three-run home run in the fifth. The final score was 11-1.

Later Saturday, Hazen fell to Auburn Mountainview 3-1.

Hazen took and early lead with a run in the top of the first. The Lions (12-9) tied the game in the bottom of the fourth, then scored twice in the bottom of the fifth.

Hazen takes the No. 3 seed into districts and plays Tuesday at 7 p.m. at Auburn Mountainview. If the Highlanders win, they play Wednesday at 7 p.m. at the same location. If they lose, they play Saturday at 7 p.m.

 

Lindbergh

The Eagles fell to Sequim 7-2 Friday, then bounced back to beat Sumner 4-3 in the bottom of the seventh Saturday in sub-district action.

Ryan White went 2-3 with two runs and a triple against Sequim (13-3).

Lindbergh (12-5) takes the No. 7 seed and plays the No. 10 seed Tuesday at 7 p.m. at the fairgrounds in Silverdale. If the Eagles win, they play against Wednesday at 7 p.m. If they lose, they play Saturday at Foss at 2 p.m.

 

Liberty

The Patriots (9-9) play Mercer Island (11-8) Tuesday at 7 p.m. at Mercer Island in the KingCo 3A/2A tournament.

Liberty won its last final five league games of the regular season and finished sixth in the KingCo 3A/2A. The Patriots lost to Mercer Island 15-9 April 13 and beat the Islanders 3-0 April 29.

 

Kennedy Catholic

The Lancers (12-5) beat Peninsula (10-9) 12-3 in the sub-district tournament Saturday.

Renton resident Grant Perotti went 1-4 with two runs and three RBI for the Lancers.

Kennedy takes the No. 5 seed into the district tournament and plays Tuesday at 4 p.m. at Auburn Mountainview against the Southwest No. 2 seed.

If the Lancers win, they play again Wednesday at 4 p.m. at the same location. If they lose, they play Thursday at 4 p.m.

 

Renton

Renton (3-14) played Fife (11-7) Friday in a loser-out game of the sub-district tournament, but results were not available.
