New Liberty basketball coach Jevon Green is excited to implement his new system with the Patriots.
Uptempo, pressing, man-to-man, etc. It should all come together to make Liberty competitive in the KingCo 3A/2A.
There’s only one problem: He’s just getting some of his best players into practice.
Juniors Chandler Jenkins and Jake Bainton missed practice and early games because of the Patriots’ extended football playoff run.
“We’re putting in a new system,” Green said. “The guys who have been here are making good progress, but we’ll basically have to start all over again.”
Even with the late start, Green is excited about the Patriots’ prospects. The team has excellent athleticism and there are plenty of talented players.
Kylan Marlow and Connor Sjolander return to give the team depth up front. Sjolander is a senior power forward and was second on the Patriots in rebounding last season, at 4.8 per game.
Newcomers Farzam Shockri, E.J. Demps and Trey Wheeler should help add some scoring punch to the team.
“I see us really gelling in January,” Green said.
