Seattle’s lone score came in the fourth quarter when Charlie Whitehurst connected on a three-yard pass to tight end Anthony McCoy for a touchdown.

Whitehurst completed 14 of 19 passes for 97 yards in the game. He was 10-for-11 on the scoring drive. Tarvaris Jackson completed 11 of 21 passes for 75 yards, with one interception.

The Seahawks didn’t get much going in the running game and third-string quarterback Josh Portis led the team with four rushes for 46 yards. Leon Washington rushed four times for 26 yards. Thomas Clayton rushed seven times for 25 yards.

Dominique Byrd, Kris Durham and Anthony McCoy caught four passes each.

Other notes:

• Jackson took a number of big hits in the first half as the offensive line continues to try and figure things out.

• The offensive line struggled again when the Seahawks had a first-and-goal from the Minnesota two-yard line in the first half. The team went four and out, failing to score.

• Golden Tate struggled. Tate dropped two passes, the second of those bounced into a Viking defender’s hands and was returned 64 yards for a touchdown. Tate caught one pass for 10 yards, returned a kickoff 17 yards and a punt four yards.

Seattle plays the Denver Broncos Aug. 27 in Denver. The game starts at 6 p.m. and airs on King 5.
