Four Lindbergh Eagles and three Hazen Highlanders were named to the Washington State Soccer Coaches Association 2016 All-State teams this week.

For the unbeaten Seamount League champion Eagles, junior forward Alex Kirstov was named to the 2A first team, while sophomore keeper Matthew Evetts made it to the second team. Junior midfielder James Farrell and senior defender Tim Reitz each ranked an honorable mention.

“Kirtsov played well for us all season and he’s very deserving of being named to the All State First Team,” Lindbergh Coach Ryan Johnson said in an email, adding that Evetts made several key saves to preserve the unbeaten season, Farrell scored two key goals to help win the championship and Reitz is a “solid player and showed great leadership.”

In the 3A class, Hazen’s senior defender Hector Cervantes was named to the first team, while senior forward Reyes Garcia and junior midfielder Ethan Kem both were named to the second team.

“This type of recognition isn’t why these guys play the game, but it sure is nice to see them get credit for the work they put in every day,” Hazen coach Ken Matthews said in an email.
