Lindbergh swimmers bring home three individual state titles

James Buchanan won two swimming state titles and diver Derek Anderson added a third as the Lindbergh Eagles swim team placed sixth overall in the state meet this past weekend in Federal Way.

James Buchanan won two swimming state titles and diver Derek Anderson added a third as the Lindbergh Eagles swim team placed sixth overall in the state meet this past weekend in Federal Way.

Buchanan, a junior, won the 200-yard individual medley in a time of 1:58.08 and took home the top spot in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 0:52.54

Anderson, a junior, easily won the one-meter diving event with a score of 410.30, more than 60 points ahead of his closest competitor.

Lindbergh did well all day long, with the 200-yard medley relay team of Buchanan, Anderson, Andrew Pogue and Benjamin Pogue finishing third, while the 200-yard freestyle relay of Cris Midrigan, Andrew Pogue, Anthony Vogeler and Benjamin Pogue finished 10th and the 400-yard freestyle relay team of Benjamin Pogue, Dupree Nugent, Vogeler and Buchanan placed fifth.

Individually, Vogeler also placed 14th in the 200-yard freestyle and 15th in the 500 free. Benjamin Pogue finished 10th in the 50 freestyle. And along with his diving title, Anderson placed 16th in the 100-yard breaststroke.
