Lindbergh, Renton, Foster all move on to district tournament | Boys basketball

The Renton, Lindbergh and Foster boys basketball teams all made the West Central District III tournament. The Eagles (12-10) enter the tournament as the seventh seed and will face Fife (9-13) in the first round Tuesday at 8 p.m. at Foss.

Lindbergh fell to White River 48-46 in the sub-district tournament Feb. 10. Colin Malone scored 15 points in the game. Jimmy Keum scored 12. The Eagles then beat Port Angeles 55-44 Feb. 11. Keum led the team with 18 points in that game. Malone scored 10.

The Bulldogs (10-12) are the ninth seed and take on Port Angeles Tuesday at 8 p.m. at Lakes.

Foster beat Olympic 62-59 Feb. 10. Foster led by 10 points late, then held off a run that saw the Trojans get to within two points with 19 seconds left. Gabe Gutierrez scored 21 points in the game. Foster then beat Eatonville 42-36 Feb. 11. Ablie Leigh scored 14 points in the game. Gutierrez added 12.

The Indians (10-12) are the 12th seed and will play White River (18-5) Tuesday at 6 p.m. at Lakes.

Renton beat Steilacoom 71-64 Feb. 10. Renton then fell to Fife 53-49 Feb. 11. No stats were reported for the games.

Hazen (10-12) fell twice in the 3A sub-district tournament.

The Highlanders lost 44-40 to Auburn Mountainview Feb. 9, then slipped against Bonney Lake 59-51 Feb. 11. The loss ends their season.

Hazen trailed 30-20 at the half, but came back with a 21-7 run in the third. Bonney Lake then closed the game out on a 22-10 run for the win.

Frankie Johnson scored 17 points to lead Hazen. Emmanuel Oppong added 13 and Alex Olson scored 10.
