The Lindbergh boys basketball team fell to Newport 79-61 in a non-league game Wednesday.
The Eagles (1-5 overall, 1-3 Seamount) got off to quick start thanks to the hot shooting Diondre Toms. Toms scored 12 points in the first quarter and finished with a game-high 25.
Lindbergh by double digits through most of the second quarter until Newport went on a 6-0 run to narrow the gap. The Eagles struggled from the field and managed just six points in the third quarter, four of which came in the period’s final 20 seconds. Newport took advantage and built a 10-point lead.
Jimmy Keum scored 20 for Lindbergh.
Renton 62, Eastside Catholic 43
The Renton boys basketball team cruised to a 62-43 win against Eastside Catholic at the Bellevue College Holiday Tournament Wednesday.
The Indians are now 4-5 overall and 3-1 in the Seamount.
