Liberty freshman Mackenna Briggs won a state title in the 100 back Saturday as the Liberty and Hazen swimmers took on the rest of the competition around Washington at the 3A state swim and dive meet.
Briggs, who earlier this year became the first freshman Liberty swimmer to ever qualify for state in every event, won the 100 back with a time in the finals of 58.62. She swam a time of 59.42 in the preliminary round, the only 3A swimmer to finish under one minute.
Briggs also finished third in the 200 IM.
Briggs entered the meet seeded second to Hazen sophomore Talisa Wibmer, who just missed a spot in the A final with her prelim time of one minute, 2.09 seconds. Wibmer went on to swim a top overall time of 58.51 seconds in the B final, good for ninth place.
