Liberty beats up on Decatur in non-league action; Both Lindbergh squads fall to Kennedy | Basketball

After a tough non-league run to finish December, the Liberty girls basketball got back on track with a 55-26 win against Decatur Thursday in the team’s final game before returning to KingCo action.

The Patriots (5-6 overall, 2-1 KingCo 3A/2A) held the struggling Gators to their lowest scoring total this season.

Aspen Winegar led Liberty with 13 points. Breanne Faehnrich scored nine and Danni Sjolander scored eight. Ten different Patriots scored in the blowout win.

Liberty beat Spanaway Lake (4-6) and Hazen (3-7) before going 0-3 at the Surf ‘N Slam Classic. The Patriots faced tough out-of-state teams in Willwonville (Ore.) and Miramonte (Calif.), as well as undefeated Woodinville (9-0) at the tournament.

The Patriots face Juanita Jan. 13 in a return to KingCo action. They are currently tied with Bellevue and Juanita for second in the league.

Kennedy Catholic 80, Lindbergh 54

The Lindbergh boys basketball team stuck with Kennedy Catholic in the first half, but fell behind in the second and lost 80-54 Wednesday.

The Eagles (1-5, 0-5 Seamount) trailed by four at the half. James Keum and Derek Roseboro each scored 13 to lead Lindbergh.

Mitch Penner scored 33 for Kennedy to lead all scorers.

Kennedy Catholic 88, Lindbergh 37

The Lindbergh girls basketball team fell to Kennedy Catholic 88-37 Wednesday.
