Highlanders tennis earns hard-fought victory over Kennedy to remain unbeaten

Hazen is now 13-0 overall and 10-0 in the Seamount. Friday's match against Sammamish was postponed due to weather.

It was hard-fought battle for sure, but the Hazen Highlander tennis team on Thursday defeated the second-place Kennedy Catholic Lancers 5-2 to remain undefeated on the season.

In the first round of matches, the three doubles teams and the second singles players faced off. In Doubles play, the first doubles team of Sonlam Nguyen and Justin Nguyen fell 3-6, 4-6 and third doubles team of Alex Kang and Johnny Le lost 6-7 (5-7), 4-6. But the second team of Andre Noinala and Anrew Hwang pulled out a 7-6 (7-5), 6-2 victory.

Meanwhile, in second singles, Gregg Furumasu won his match 6-4, 4-6, 10-4 to lock it up at 2-2 after the first round of play.

In first singles, Bruno Hernandez-Sotres fell behind 1-4 before turning it around and battling to a 7-5, 6-3 win. Then, in third singles Marcus Lee won 6-1, 6-2 and David Vaisar won his fourth singles match 6-0, 6-2 to lock down the victory for the Highlanders.
