Hazen tops Evergreen 7-0 after exchange of ribbons during warmups

Hazen, which has a tradition of wearing different colored hair ribbons for each game, came out wearing green, Evergreen's color, to recognize the difficulties Evergreen has been through in the past few weeks.

The Hazen soccer team improved to 2-0 in the Seamount league on Tuesday with a 7-0 win over Evergreen at Renton Memorial Stadium.

Madison Taylor had two goals and two assists for the Highlanders in the win.

The game began with an unusual exchange on the field as the Hazen team, which has a tradition of wearing different colored hair ribbons for each game, came out wearing green, Evergreen’s color, to honor the relationship between the school and to recognize the difficulties Evergreen has been through in the past few weeks.

Hazen presented Evergreen with green ribbons of their own during warm-ups and both teams wore them during the match.

In the game, Taylor Lenton, Madison Kem, Nicole Lenton, Anna Browne and Bella Colsurdo joined Taylor in scoring goals, while Amy Warmenhoven (2), Madison Kaiser, Valencia Poston and Colasurdo each also picked up assists.

Hazen improves to 6-3-2 overall and 2-0 in the Seamount. They play at Foster on Thursday.
