Hazen, Lindbergh, Renton all take wins | Football

Hazen ran away from Evergreen in a 46-12 win Friday night.

The Highlanders (3-2 overall, 1-2 Seamount) are now part of a four-team pack that also includes Evergreen, Highline and Renton sitting at 1-2 in league play.

Hazen rushed for 349 yards on 35 attempts, averaging just under 10 yards per carry. Junior Eric Jacobs led the way with 85 yards and two touchdowns on just three carries.

Keith Carlson tallied 76 yards and a touchdown on 11 carries. Cody Taylor (51 yards), Isaiah Talley (46 yards), Daymontray Brown (58 yards) and Zac Cotton (seven yards) also scored rushing touchdowns for the Highlanders.

Quarterback Travis Johnson rushed twice for 22 yards. He also completed three of five passes for 41 yards and an interception. D.J. Perry, Cody Moorhead and Taylor each caught one pass.

Hazen built a 27-0 lead before Evergreen got on the board with six points in the third quarter. The Highlanders then widened the gap even more building a 46-6 lead until Evergreen scored again late in the fourth quarter.

Hazen has an important stretch of games to finish the regular season. The Highlanders face Highline, Foster and Renton. Foster is ahead of Hazen in the Seamount standings while the other two teams are tied.

Hazen plays Highline Oct. 8 at home.

Lindbergh 41, Highline 0

After a scoreless first quarter, Lindbergh put the pressure on during a 41-0 win against Highline Sept. 30.

The Eagles (4-1, 3-0) got on the board with an 80-yard interception return in the second quarter, then rattled off five rushing touchdowns.

Lindbergh has scored 43 points or more in each of its four wins this season.

Renton tops Tyee by forfeit

Tyee doesn’t have enough players to play a varsity football schedule this season, so Renton picked up a win by forfeit Friday night.

The Indians are now 1-4 overall and 1-2 in the Seamount.
