Hazen, Lindbergh open season with wins | Baseball

The Hazen baseball team topped Liberty 6-2 in a non-league game Tuesday. The Highlanders (1-0) scored twice in the first inning with an RBI single by Zac Kolterman and a sacrifice fly from Cody Moorhead. Hazen scored again in the second when Sam Cook came in on a Kyle Arinobu single.

The Highlanders (1-0) scored twice in the first inning with an RBI single by Zac Kolterman and a sacrifice fly from Cody Moorhead. Hazen scored again in the second when Sam Cook came in on a Kyle Arinobu single.

Liberty (0-3) responded with a single run each in the fourth and fifth innings.

Hazen scored twice in the sixth on RBi singles by Jared Howell and Jimmy Schmidt. Cook finished the scoring with an RBI single by Cook in the seventh.

Schmidt pitched the complete game for Hazen, allowing five hits and striking out five.

Lindbergh 16, Renton 3

The Lindbergh baseball team cruised past Renton 16-3 Monday.

The Eagles (1-0) scored nine runs in the first inning, one in the third and six in the fifth. Renton (0-2) touched home plate three times in the fifth.

Billy Hernandez went 2-3 with two runs and three RBI for Lindbergh. Matt Stuart went 2-4 with a run and three RBI. Brett Love pitched all five innings, struck out five and earned the win.

Oliver Billion went 1-3 with an RBI for Renton.
