Hazen and Highline play to tie | BOYS SOCCER

After spotting Highline an early goal, junior midfielder Luis Puga picked up a goal in the 35th minute off an assist by senior Forward Sam Bunnell.

Hazen Soccer stumbled a little Friday night, playing to a 1-1 draw with Highline.

“Some nights you just can’t catch a break,” said Hazen Coach Ken Matthews in a press release. “We had so many chances that were so close.”

After spotting Highline an early goal, junior midfielder Luis Puga picked up a goal in the 35th minute off an assist by senior Forward Sam Bunnell.

The game had no more scoring. But it still had plenty of action.

Hazen did everything but score in the second half, according to Matthews.  “Lauren (Smallwood, Hazen Teacher and Soccer Volunteer) said it wasn’t like our shots were off by a yard. She was right, they missed by inches,” he said.

Hazen outshot Highline 8 to 1 in the second half, but nothing was going in.

“Highline is always seems to save their best for us,” Matthews said. “Not a win tonight but not a loss. Every night in Seamount is an adventure.”

Matthews named senior forward Marcelo Castro tonight’s Man of the Match.   Freshman mid Reyes Garcia the Fair Play Award Winner.

Hazen Soccer travels to Foster for a match at 7 p.m. Tuesday.
