Gymnastics: Lindbergh completes first undefeated regular season in at least ten years

The Lindbergh gymnastics team beat Kennedy 147.3-135.85 Monday to complete the team’s first undefeated season in over ten years.

It was the highest score of the season for the Eagles (7-0), though Lindbergh coach Maggie O’Connor said she didn’t think it was her team’s best meet of the season.

O’Connor said Lindbergh suffered from uncharacteristic bobbles in events.

“It’s better to get those out now before Friday,” O’Connor said.

The Seamount League gymnastics meet is Friday at Mount Rainier, starting at 6 p.m.

Kennedy’s Charlotte Dittmar won the all-around competition with a score of 35.45. Lindbergh’s Louise Baker finished second, at 34.7. Lindbergh’s Aleyna Yamaguchi placed third, at 32.35.

Baker placed first in vault (8.7), second in bars (8.1), third in beam (8.2) and first on floor (9.6). O’Connor said the 9.6 on floor is Baker’s personal best.

Yamaguchi placed third in vault (8.3), third in bars (7.25) and second in beam (8.4).

Christine Yamaguchi placed second in vault (8.6) and third in floor (8.5).

O’Connor said the Eagles and Mount Rainier are the favorites to win the league meet.

“I have no doubt that if we hit everything we can do and if we got all of those bobbles out Monday, we’ll be right up there,” she said.

Lindbergh beat Mount Rainier 141.20-129-85 Dec. 9 when the two teams met head-to-head for their regular season meet.
