Chase Onstot wins 500, Highlanders take second | 3A WCD boys swim & dive

The Hazen boys swim and dive team placed second at the West Central District III 3A meet this weekend. The Highlanders scored 235 points, trailing only Kennedy Catholic, with 258. Peninsula finished in third, with 171 points.

Hazen’s 200-yard medley relay team of Nolan Hoover, Chris Foth, Kyle Nelsen and Malcolm Mitchell placed fourth and qualified for state.

Chase Onstot took second in the 200 free. Mitchell finished third and both qualified for state.

Connor Broughton placed fourth in the 200 individual medley, qualifying for state.

Shane Thompson took sixth in the one-meter dive competition.

Mitchell finished fifth in the 100 free, good for a state berth.

Onstot won a district title in the 500 free. Broughton placed second. Both will go to state.

Hazen’s 200-free relay team of Onstot, Nelsen, Alex Gayte and Andrew Le placed third and qualified for state.

Hoover took second in the 100 back and qualified for state.

Hazen’s 400-free relay (Onstot, PJ Warmenhoven, Broughton and Mitchell) finished third and qualified for state.
